An 80 t/hr PUG mill ash conditioner and DU 45 dust collector enabling dust-free transport of boiler fly ash in open trucks and dry-ash road tanker loading.
The challenge at Sendau Power Station, on the West African coast near Dakar, was to enable the transportation of boiler ash from the fly ash silo to a newly constructed ash storage dam in open trucks. The plant also needed to off-load dry ash into road tankers for supply to the local cement company.
Fumex Engineering designed and supplied an 80 t/hr PUG mill mixer — essentially a twin-shaft mixer that homogenously blends hot dry ash with high-pressure spray water in order to condition the ash, preventing dust discharge during loading and unloading.
Dust control for the dry-ash unloading was achieved by installing a DU 45 dust collector on the silo top, with ductwork and a specially designed hood at the road-tanker loading point. Dust discharge from the DU 45 was handled via a rotary valve and a screw conveyor.
